Nintendo Switch will come with some major downsides

Nintendo Switch, the new gaming platform that isn’t yet in shops, has officially confirmed several negative aspects. At first, people have heard only the good ones, but now comes the real description of the new gaming platform - check game review.

The new console from Nintendo needs to revive the interest of young people for Japanese consoles. Switch must seem a viable alternative for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Besides their consecrated titles, Nintendo should come with the latest games from EA Games, Activitision, Bethesda and any other important developer or publisher.

In theory, Nintendo officials have check some of the important points that define a successful console, but missed the opportunity to bring the console ahead of the competition. It is all about backwards compatibility.

The compatibility with games on older consoles, Wii U or Wii would have been an important sales argument for Nintendo, but it looks like that this major aspect will be missing from the new Nintendo Switch. Microsoft has implemented this feature by updating the firmware on Xbox One, the Nintendo president – Tatsumi Kimishima has confirmed in an interview with Time magazine that we will not see the same thing on Switch - see the game features.

“Switch is not compatible with games developed for other systems and currently is not compatible with controllers made for other systems. The support for some controllers may be considered through a future update. In some cases, the games from past systems can be launched again for Nintendo Switch in improved versions or original versions.”

This bad news comes days after it was confirmed the compatibility of the platform with the graphic engine, Unreal Engine 4 that will facilitate the porting of major PC titles on Nintendo Switch.

“Regarding the presence of an internet browser, because all our efforts have revolved around achieving  a stunning dedicated gaming console, Switch will not support it, at least not at launch.” Those who hoped to surf the internet and watch movies on Switch, at least around the launch, they will have to resume only to gaming.

For now, I am not that impressed with this new gaming console, and I need to admit that at first when I read the first reviews I was thrilled. I really hope that the producers will read peoples’ opinions and solve at least a couple of these major downsides.
